Christ´s Lutheran Church has served the Woodstock community for 200 years. We support local ministries which include: Christ´s Lutheran Church is in partnership with the 10,657 congregations, 28 Lutheran colleges and universities, 8 seminaries, 350 world-wide missionaries, Lutheran Social Services of America and Lutheran World Relief; all ministries of the 4.8 million member Evangelical Lutheran Church in America(ELCA). |

This 300-page book documents the unusual history of our Lutheran congregation on the edge of the Catskill Mountains. It is the oldest continuing
English-language Lutheran congregation in the country. The church has been served by four presidents (bishops) of two different synods. It was also the home of the most popular composer of
American hymns during the early nineteenth century. The revival meetings and extravagant Sunday School picnics were foundational for the later Woodstock theatrical life and concerts.
During its early history the congregation practiced a pragmatic ecumenism by engaging the services of both Episcopalian and Methodist clergymen. The book is available at |
