In Memory of Peter Bengtson:
The Altar Guild would like to purchase refillable oil candles for the candelabras that we use at Christmas and Easter. We would like to suggest that we honor Peter Bengtson's life and work at Christ's Church with the purchase of these candles. The candles will be a beautiful reminder of Peter's wonderful spirit. Anyone who would like to contribute one candle ($45) or more, please contact Eileen at 247-4001 or ejo23post@yahoo.com. Any checks should be made out to Christ's Lutheran Church with "oil candles" written in the memo. Thank you to everyone in advance for making this memorial to Peter possible.
Haiti Disaster Relief: Here are two other ways to have your donation supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans: Option 1
- If you ARE a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, you can have your gift supplemented by $1 for every $2 given, up to a maximum of $250 per person ($125 supplemental) by going to www.thrivent.com/helpinghaiti. There are four organizations to whom you can give that are participating in this nationwide program to help Haiti (details on the site)
Option 2
- Recognizing that there are people in our local congregations that are NOT members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Hudson Valley NY Chapter is holding an ongoing Care Abounds in Communities fund-raiser from now through Friday, February 19, also supplementing $1 for every $2 given toward relief for Haiti, up to a maximum of $1600 of supplemental funds. Because of this limit, Thrivent members are encouraged to donate through the national program instead of this fund-raiser. All money raised through this effort will be sent to the ELCA Disaster Response. FMI: see David Adler or Deb Kress
Snow Cancellation Policy: Christ's Lutheran Church activities are canceled whenever Onteora Schools close for bad weather. Worship cancellation due
to bad weather: call church council president.
Office Hours: The office will be open on Thursdays, 12:30 until 3:00.
Announcements to share? E-mail them to bulletin@christwoodstock.org or call the church office at 679-2336 no later than 8:00 a.m. each Thursday to be included in that Sunday's weekly bulletin.
