The children at Christ's Lutheran Church, Woodstock, The Rev. Sonia Maclary, pastor, put on shows to help children orphaned by the AIDs epidemic in Africa. Since
December 2009, they have presented three dramas and were able to send more than a thousand dollars (with matching grants from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans) to Crossroads Springs Child Care Center and School in
Kenya. (). To continue supporting the children in Africa, they are currently rehearsing a new play, Power Failure.
It will be staged at the church on Mill Hill Road in Woodstock, on Sunday, June 5th at 1 PM. The public is invited.
Power Failure, written and directed by Barbara Pickhardt, is a musical review in three acts. Although
distinctly different in time and place, an 1800s school house, a Hollywood film studio and the president's cabinet meeting in Washington, DC, the three acts have power outages in common. Songs highlighting the
theme, As power fails around us, God's love is constant, are woven throughout the production.
The cast, ages 6 through 13, includes; Melanie, Morgan and Phoebe Camara, Emily and Erin Downs, Anna and Celia Tuttman, Catherine Maclary and Isabel, Amalia, Alfredo and
Angel Martinez. Kristen Tuttman is the pianist. Lois Ostapczuk, Doris Blatter, Mathew and Melanie Camara and Barbra Callahan are assisting the production.
