A Lenten Study for Renewal and Growth
By Heart: The 10 Commandments
Martin Luther had a way with words and an eye toward instruction as he wrote the Small Catechism. Written to awaken and affirm faith as well as provide a helpful tool for households and congregations, the Small Catechism delivers the precise and profound words that have become the heart of Lutheran teaching about the Christian faith.

Join us 5 weeks during Lent as we explore Luther's teaching again, focusing on the first section of his Small Catechism, The 10 Commandments.  Most sessions will be offered three times, once at Christ's Woodstock at noon. on Sundays, and twice at Atonement, Saugerties: Sundays at 4 p.m. and Tuesday at 7 p.m.  (There are a few exceptions: please check the posting carefully!) Sessions will last approximately 1 hour. Each is intergenerational.

Participants should download the FREE Small Catechism App.  Click here for more info.
and purchase the companion book, "By Heart: Conversations with Luther's Small Catechism" available from Augsburg Fortress Click Here and Amazon.com as Prime selection.

Additionally, participants are encouraged to view the "With New Voices" video produced by the ELCA featuring Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton teaching the Small Catechism. Links to each video are provided below.

Snow policy: An advisory from the National Weather Service active during the time of the class will cancel that class. Make-up classes will be held during Holy Week or, if need be, the week after Easter. Questions? Call Pastor Sonja at 845-389-2481.
